Date Universal Organizer January 5, 2009

5 Jan

Most of the advice that I share with you here was obtained when I was a graduate student at Emory University.

“What’s the question,” one of my earlier posts,  I learned from Michael Tomasello now at MPI-EVA in Leipzig Germany.

Moments ago, I just told my lab about the universal organizer… Date.  Date all papers, all revisions, date everything you do and keep a log of all your thoughts and papers.

How many times can we not tell the difference between the 10th and 14th revision of a grant or manuscript?  If each document were dated this would not be a problem.

In my lab everything is dated on the top right hand side of the page — just as my mentor Philippe Rochat taught me.
