MAKING THE RIGHT MOVE: BECOMING A YOUNG INVESTIGATOR IN GERMANY

18 Apr

I really enjoyed my talk today at the Goethe Institute in Washington DC!  The talk was for a GAIN Workshop. GAIN is a joint initiative of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Research Foundation (DFG) and associated members, including the German Rectors’ Conference, the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, the Leibniz Association and the Max Planck Society.

I met so many outstanding young researchers and appreciated their excellent questions.  I love to share my experience of the 7 years that I spent in Leipzig Germany. I talked about my experiences as Junior Research Group Leader of the Cultural Ontogeny Group (Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology) and then highlighted the great years I spent as the Head of the Neurocognition & Development group with the Sofja Kovalevskaja Prize of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.  Please feel free to continue the discussion here.  Also I will post my talk in the next week.  Alles Gute!

Don’t forget:  Use code “Humboldt50” at drstriano.com and 50 percent of proceeds go to the American Friends of Alexander von Humboldt Society.  (coupon valid until June 2010 but new ones will be posted as well). I can’t think of a better way to show my admiration of the Humboldt Foundation!
